MSCW organises health camp for women

Imphal, September 23 2024: Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) organised a "One Day Health Camp for Women in Prison" at Manipur Central Jail, Old Lambulane, Imphal on Monday.

The health camp was conducted in connection with the celebration of Seventh Rashtriya Poshan Maah with the support of Superintendent of Police(Jail), Central Jail, Manipur and under the sponsorship of National Commission for Women.

Speaking on the occasion, MSCW Chairperson Thumlip Tiningpham, Monsang said "The Rashtriya Poshan Maah is a nationwide campaign that promotes nutrition awareness and is celebrated in September every year.

The campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018".She asserted that the POSHAN Abhiyaan or National Nutrition Mission, is held mainly to improve the nutritional status of children under six years of age, adolescent girls, pregnant women, and lactating mothers in a time-bound manner using a collaborative and result-oriented approach.

Inspector General of Police (Prison), Manipur, Faumei Gonglin stated that human life is very precious and one should take care of one's own health.

"Humans do make mistakes but the ultimate goal is to rectify it at the earliest Happiness could be achieved only by discarding shortcuts in life.

For this, one needs to be patient enough in all walks of life", he added.

He also asserted that taking shortcuts to meet one's goal would surely land up in trouble.

Nutritionist, Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of Manipur, Ambershi Sorokhaibam and Dr Sultana Parveen, Sr Medical Officer, Manipur Central Jail shared their in-depth knowledge on the importance of proper balanced diet and mental health in one's life.

W Phajatombi Devi, Member Secretary, MSCW; Lourembam Dayabati Devi, Member, MSCW; T Chuongsin Koireng, Member, MSCW and Sorokhaibam Bhadrika, MJS, Superintendent of Police, Manipur Central Prison, Imphal were among the dignitaries present.

Notably, medicinal plants were also planted as a part of the programme.
