National Space Day celebrated widely

Imphal, August 23 2024:
The Central Bureau of Communications (CBC), Regional Office Imphal, in collaboration with DM College of Science, DM University, celebrated National Space Day at the DM College campus in Imphal today.
As part of the celebration, a two-days long Integrated Communication & Outreach Programme (ICOP) was conducted with the aim to ignite the interest of students and public in space science & technology.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Prof Nongmaithem Rajmuhon, former Vice Chancellor, DM University, emphasized the importance of space science in today's world and the role of educational institutions in nurturing young minds to contribute to this ever-evolving field.
He also elaborated on the role of young minds in shaping the future of space science and encouraged students to pursue careers in this exciting and rapidly evolving field.
Resource person of the event, Dr Aheibam Keshwarjit Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, DM College of Science, delivered an inspiring talk on India's space missions, including the Chandrayaan and Mars Orbiter missions.
Prof M Bhubaneshwari Devi, Principal, DM College of Science, said, "This event has provided our students with a unique opportunity to learn from experts and engage with the exciting world of space science.
It is our hope that many of our students will be inspired to pursue careers in this field" .
Dr Engam Pame, IIS Regional Director, CBC, RO, Imphal inspired the young college students to focus on their careers and become responsible citizens of the nation.
Notably, the National Space Day celebration featured a variety of engaging activities, including interactive lectures and quizzes that highlighted India's advancements in space exploration.
The event sought to educate and inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and space enthusiasts by providing them with a closer look at the marvels of space.
Students from various departments of DM College of Science actively participated in the event.
Photo exhibitions of the successful launch of various space explorations over the years by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) were also put up in the exhibition stall.
Manipur University
The Department of Physics, Manipur University celebrated National Science Day at the VC Court Hall of Manipur University, Canchipur today.
It was graced by Prof N Lokendra Singh, Vice Chancellor, Manipur University; Prof Angom Dilip Kumar; Head, Department of Physics and Prof K Yugindro as presidium members.
At the event, Prof N Lokendra expressed his desire to include Geographic Information System (GIS) in the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) of Manipur University.
He also elaborated on the advantages of GIS and the need for innovations in space science & technology.
Prizes were also distributed to the winners of the State Level Inter-University Poster Campaign conducted in connection with National Space Day.
NIT Manipur
In line with the celebration of National Space Day, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Manipur organised an Educational Outreach Programme at Huikap High School, Huikap, Imphal East today.
During the event, Dr Shagolsem Lenin Singh, Associate Professor, NIT Manipur, shared his insights and interacted with the young students and teachers of the school.
He also recalled the relentless efforts of numerous scientists, engineers and other stakeholders towards achieving the success of the ISRO.
Discussion was also conducted on various technical aspects such as Soft Landing technology, scientific findings, and significance of the successfully concluded Chandrayaan-3 mission.
