82nd anniversary of Provisional Government of Free India observed at Moirang

The 82nd anniversary of the Provisional Government of Free India (Arzi Hukumat E-Azad Hind) was observed today at INA Martyrs' Memorial Hall located at Moirang Kangla.
The event was jointly organised by the INA War Museum cum Netaji Library Moirang and INA Local Committee Moirang.
The commemoration began with floral tributes to the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and was graced by MLA of Moirang Assembly Constituency, Thongam Shanti Singh as chief guest; INA Local Advisory Committee member DR Th Gourabhidhu Singh as functional president; Retd Principal of Moirang College, A Sharatchandra Sharma as guest of honour; and founder and president of Netaji Subhash Manch, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, Paresh Kumar Nandi joined as special guest.
As part of the event, a bust size statue of Col Shaukat Ali Malik, the first Indian to hoist the Indian National Flag on liberated Indian territory at Moirang Kangla was unveiled by the dignitaries.
The statue was donated by Paresh Kumar Nandi, founder and president of Netaji Subhash Manch, Jamshedpur in memory of his father.
A book titled "The Last Fight for Freedom, Moirang", written by Paresh Kumar Nandi was also released during the event.
Later, Moirangthem Ongbi Khabi Devi, aged 104 years from Thamnapokpi, the lone surviving witness of the Japan War, who lost her whole family members due to British bombing during the war, was also honoured by the organisers by presenting simple gifts.
During the event, a collection of old books, documents, and records compiled by retired Principal of CC Hr Sec School, O Govardhan, was also donated and handed over to the INA War Museum cum Library.
Y Modhu Singh, Retd Associate Professor also spoke on topics of "Provisional Government of Free India" to the gathering, highlighting the INA's enduring role in India's freedom movement.
