81st anniversary of Provisional Government of Free India observed

The Department of Art & Culture, Government of Manipur, INA War Museum cum Netaji Library Moirang and INA Local Advisory Committee Moirang jointly organised the 81st anniversary of the Provisional Government of Free India (Arzi Hukumat E-Azad Hind) at INA Martyrs Memorial Hall today.
The Azad Hind was formed by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on October 21, 1943 in Singapore to liberate India from British rule.
A poetry recitation competition was also conducted on the topic "Netaji and INA" as a part of the ceremony.
The event began with the offering of floral tributes on the monument of Netaji.
Notable dignitaries in attendance include M Joy IAS, Commissioner, Art & Culture; Ch Somorendro, MCS, SDO/SDM Moirang; A Sharatchandra, retd Principal.
Moirang College and Ph Magha, member, INA Local Advisory Committee Moirang as the presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, M Joy said that Netaji announced the formation of the Provisional Government of Free India in 1943 at Cathay building, Singapore and took over as the Minister of War to free India from British rule.
Stating that Netaji's goal was to drive out the Britishers from India, M Joy shared that Netaji's ideals of freedom should be emulated by the people of the State.
As a part of the event, 29 students from different schools in Bishnupur district partook in the poetry recitation competition.
Notably, Moirangthem Rajluxmi (Diligent Public School Moirang); Rejia Khundrakpam (Diligent Public School Moirang) and Suraj Oinam (Career Foundation Academy, Phubala) bagged the first, second and third positions respectively.
The winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates while consolation prizes were handed over to five participants.
