Imphal, February 21: Reacting against the act of unidentified cadres suspected to be KRA members who allegedly forced the village authority members of Kangchup Chiru to sign on a blank document on February 19 at the office of SDC Kangchup, Chiru Union, NEI has called upon all concerned to respect the law of the land and condemned such act in its strongest term.

A statement issued by Chiru Union NEI president Kh Rengtokung said, the village representatives of Kangchup Chiru were forced to sign on a blank document to illustrate that they agreed to withdraw a land dispute case between Kangchup Chiru and Kangchup Kuki villages.

however the said case was already disposed off by the High Court in favour of Kangchup Chiru, it added.

While the formal order of the case was pending with the SDO Gamphajol the cadres took advantage of this time lapse and tried to forcibly overpower the villages to comply with the attempt made for withdrawal of the case, it alleged.
