Manipur celebrates Foundation Day of States

Imphal, January 21 2026:
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, graced the commemoration of Foundation Days of eight States - Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Uttar Pradesh- held at Lok Bhavan, Imphal, this evening.
The commemoration, held as a part of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' programme, highlighted the spirit of national unity and cultural harmony, bringing together the shared histories and diverse traditions of the 8 States, said a release issued by PRO Lok Bhavan.
On the occasion, Ajay Kumar Bhalla released a special Manipuri rendition of Vande Mataram, symbolising Manipur's cultural pride and its integral place in the national mosaic.
The Governors of Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura conveyed their greetings and messages through video presentations, reflecting the collective commitment to strengthening inter-State bonds.
Additional Chief Secretary, Anurag Bajpai, represented Uttar Pradesh, Mamoni Doley, DC Senapati, representing Assam and SK Dev Verman, Member, Manipur Lokayukta.
representing Tripura, shared their insights on the event.
The event featured cultural performances by the artists of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, showcasing India's rich classical & traditional art forms.
The First Lady, Chief Secretary, Security Advisor, Director General of Police, along with other senior officers and invited guests, were present at the event.
