Ukhrul's Mayophung gets Tribal market

Imphal, August 20 2026:
Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho inaugurated a newly constructed Tribal Market at Mayophung village in Ukhrul district today.
Located along National Highway 202 (Imphal-Ukhrul road), the Tribal Market was constructed under the 4th State Finance Commission through the Autonomous District Council (ADC), Ukhrul.
The inauguration event was organised by the Nashira Area People's Organisation (NAPO) .
At the launch of the market, Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho highlighted the significance of the Tribal Market, stating that it would provide economic opportunities for the local farmers and enhance their livelihoods.

He noted that its location along the National Highway would make it easily accessible not only to people from Mayophung area but also to others travelling from Imphal and other areas, enabling them to purchase local produce.
He emphasized that the market will help promote and boost local produce and contribute in making the State self-reliant.
The Deputy Chief Minister further assured that the Government will provide necessary assistance for beautification of the market and its surroundings.
During the event, representatives of NAPO submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Chief Minister seeking the construction of a new market shed for the Ava Market, public sanitation facility and a borewell at the NAPO Headquarter, Mayophung, Ukhrul.
In response, the Deputy CM assured them of necessary support.
Members of the All Foothills Tribal Auto Association, Yaingangpokpi also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Chief Minister during the programme.
Chingai AC MLA Khashim Vashum, Phungyar AC MLA Leishiyo Keishing, Ukhrul AC MLA Ram Muivah, NAPO convenor Ngaranmi Kasar and Rev Samuel Zimk, Pastor, Ngarumphung Baptist Church attended the programme.
