Imphal, June 20 2024:
The PWD Chief Engineer has been asked to verify cyclone affected roads and bridges for onward submission to the Government of India.
Joint Secretary (Works) Regina Hongray wrote to the PWD Chief Engineer on June 19 that the heavy rain triggered by Cyclone Remal caused flooding across many districts and affected the road and bridge networks.
Meanwhile, the liability of PWD has crossed Rs 700 crore.
Consequently, there will be no Work Advisory Board (WAB) meeting for new works except for unavoidable works before the liability is cleared, the Joint Secretary wrote.
The Joint Secretary (Works) also asked the PWD Chief Engineer to take up a holistic examination and verification of cyclone affected roads and bridges for onward submission to the Government of India.
