Imphal, December 19 2008:
Works Minister K Ranjit has stated that threat and intimidation being given when the questions were raised against the anti-social activities of the armed revolutionary groups in Manipur is not the ethics of the true revolutionarists.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function of Sugnu Police Station today, he said many armed UG groups in Manipur have been indulging in abduction of people including Govt officials for ransom.
However, when the public demanded to know identity of the armed groups responsible for such abductions, they are being threatened.
Such attitude could never be the ethics of true revolutionarists.
Observing that the indifference attitude of the security forces towards the abduction and other violent incidents perpetrated by the armed UG groups has further compounded the difficulties of the common people, the Minister said the security forces should sincerely carry out their duties of protecting the lives and properties of the people.
Expressing hope that the inauguration of Sugnu Police Station would be not only to the benefit of the people but also of the Govt officials, the Minister appealed to the Govt officials to attend to their duties regularly.
