VIT Chennai celebrates University Day

Chennai, April 17 2026:
The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Chennai celebrated its University Day on April 7, 2026 with Indian Bank Managing Director and CEO Binod Kumar as chief guest.
Major Vaibhav Chaurasia, an alumnus of VIT Chennai, attended as guest of honour.
The event Was presided over by VIT Founder and Chancellor Dr G Viswanathan, with Vice-President Dr G V Selvam also present.
Addressing students, Kumar stressed the need to prepare for a rapidly changing world through continuous effort and adaptability.
He called for innovation centred on improving the enduser experience.
"In banking we think about how we can make the life of customers easy.
This will help you in striving for perfection within yourself', he said.
On the role of knowledge and character, he added, "Knowledge can take you up to a stage, beyond that, it is your characteristics which will shape you" .
Major Chaurasia urged students to stay resilient and maintain self-belief despite setbacks.
"Never give up, never have a doubt in yourself.
Things will not work out and things will go wrong, but you have to keep working hard and always do things right", he said.
In his presidential address, Dr Viswanathan underscored education's power to uplift individuals, families, and the nation.
He said the vision of a developed India depends on universal access to quality education and knowledge-driven economic growth.
The function concluded with the distribution of medals and certificates to meritorious students for academic and overall excellence.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof T Thyagarajan, Director Prof K Sathiyanarayanan, and Additional Registrar Prof PK Manoharan were also present.
