World Food Day celebrated widely

World Food Day 2024 was celebrated widely in the State today to promote awareness & action for those who suffer from hunger, and to highlight the need to ensure healthy diets for all.
Directorate of Agriculture
The Directorate of Agriculture, Manipur, marked World Food Day with a grand celebration held at the Farmers Training Hall, Sanjenthong today.
The event was graced by N Gojendro, Director of Agriculture; Dr Ksh Imokanta, Chief Finance Officer and Ts Gladney Monsanto as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, N Gojendro praised both the agricultural staff and the farming community for their relentless efforts in enhancing agricultural productivity across the State.
He highlighted the critical role played by the farmers and the department in ensuring food security and boosting the agricultural economy of Manipur.
The celebration followed the tradition of previous years, with a focus on recognizing the contributions of formers and agricultural professionals.
The event also provided a platform for discussions on sustainable agricultural practices and strategies to farther improve productivity in the State.
The celebration was attended by senior officials, staff, and farmers from various parts of Manipur, all of whom reaffirmed their commitment to promoting agricultural development and food security in the region.
Indian Army
The Indian Army commemorated World Food Day on Wednesday by organising a series of welfare activities in Churachandpur, Imphal West and Tengnoupal districts to promote food security & nutrition awareness.
According to a release issued by PIB (Defence Wing), an awareness lecture on food security and the importance of a balanced diet was conducted at the Government J B School in S Nabil Village in Churachandpur.
The lecture emphasized upon the role of nutritious food in fostering a healthy lifestyle and encouraged the use of locally available resources and self-reliant forming techniques, including organic farming.
In Tengnoupal and Imphal West districts, the Army organised awareness programs at T Yangnom Village and Khurkul Village.
These events witnessed a participation of over 200 people from T Yangnom, B Mounnaveng, and Lhangkichoi villages.
The discussions covered Government schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, National Food Security Act (NFSA), and the Mid Day Meal Scheme.
