78th Independence Day celebrated widely

The 78th Independence Day was celebrated widely across the State with much pomp and grandeur on Thursday.
Hoisting of the National flag and commemorating the umpteen contributions of the freedom fighters of the country were the highlights of the celebrations.
Central Forest Division
The 78th Independence Day was celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm at the Mantripukhri Complex, Central Forest Division.
It was graced by Divisional Forest Officer, Ganesh N and Chief Conservator of Forest, Joykumar Singh as presidium members.
Delivering the welcome address, Ganesh N highlighted the significance of Independence Day and the importance of protecting the Nation's natural resources.
He emphasized the role of the Forest Department in preserving the environment and promoting sustainable development.
Joykumar Singh praised the dedication and hard work of the forest staff in maintaining the rich biodiversity of the region.
He encouraged them to continue their efforts in protecting the forests and wildlife, and acknowledged the support of environmentalists, JFMC, and CSOs in conservation efforts.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to outstanding forest staff for their exceptional performance in official duties and display of exemplary courage.
Awards were presented to K Raghu, RFO, for excellence in official duties for the past many years; Shekherjit Maibam, Forester, for excellence in discipline; M Suresh Singh, Forester, for punctuality and excellence in official duties; Md Javed, Forester, for excellence in official duties, discipline; RK Anoop Singh, FG, for excellence in official duties; Waikhom Beeky Singh, FG, for excellence in Forest Fire Fighting and public duty; Laishram Somoijit Singh, FG, for exemplary courage and dedication in duty; S Jotihar, FG, for excellence in official duties; P Priyokumar Singh, FG, for excellence in official duties; Sanjrambam Kiran Meetei, FG, for excellence in official duties; Kh Hemanta Singh, FG, for office duty and overall works; Kharibam Himananda, FG, for exemplary courage and dedication in duty; Ng Satrajit Singh, FG, for excellence in official duties; Lisam Sujeet Singh, FG, for office duty and overall works; Th Jibal Singh, FG, for excellence in plantation, Forest Fire fighting; Th Rajesh, FG, for office duty and overall works; Th Hemchand Singh, FG, for exemplary courage and dedication in duty; and RK Ajit, Computer Operator, for office duty and overall works.
Awards were also given to environmentalists, JFMC, and CSOs for their contributions to conservation and sustainable development which included Manikanta Mutum, Hidangmayum Bihari Sharma, Tongbram Tejkumar, Kango Awang Development Organization, Sekmai, Punna Hingminnaba Marup Waiton, Lamdeng Mayai Leikai JFMC.
The celebration concluded with a pledge to protect the Nation's natural heritage and promote environmental stewardship.
RIMS
Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal also observed the 78th Independence Day of India at A-Block, RIMS, Imphal yesterday.
The Director of RIMS, Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma hoisted the Tricolor National Flag in front of the Administrative Block.
The Manipur Security Services gave the guard of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof G Sunil Kumar said, "As a citizen of this great nation, it is our responsibility to uphold the values of freedom, equality and justice.
We must strive to work toward building a better society where every individual has equal opportunity and rights".
He asserted that RIMS, Imphal has always been in the forefront of providing and promoting health care, medical education and research not only in the State but in the whole North East region.
The Director said that during the Standing Finance Committee (SFC) meeting held at New Delhi last week, he submitted a master plan requesting the Government of India to revamp the whole institute looking at the future for another 50 years.
Prof G Sunil Kumar continued that he also requested the Government to provide world class infrastructure, medical facilities, library, superspeciality block and multi-level parking.
Later, Prof G Sunil Kumar distributed sweets to the patients admitted at the hospital ward in the presence of Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Imphal.
The flag hoisting ceremony was attended by all the Head of Departments, Principal, College of Nursing, Principal, Dental College, Deputy Director (Admn), CAO/FA, Dean (Academics), Sub-Dean, Faculties, Nursing Superintendent, nursing staff, officials and students of RIMS, Imphal.
NCC
The 78th Independence Day was also celebrated by the cadets of Imphal Group, NCC, at its Group HQ location.
The event commenced with the hoisting of the tricolour followed by a Swachchta Awareness Rally.
The rally was participated by 120 cadets and 28 staff.
A motivational talk by retired Lt Gen K Himalaya Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, was the other highlight of the event.
CRPF
143 Battalion CRPF also celebrated the 78th Independence Day with great fervor and patriotism.
The celebration began with the unfurling of the National Flag by Ravinder Sharma, Commandant, 143, Bn CRPF.
At the event, Ravinder Sharma emphasized the significance of Independence Day and the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters.
He encouraged all the personnel to continue serving the Nation with dedication and pride.
The Commandant also read out the names of officers and personnel who have been awarded Gallantry Medals & Meritorious Service Medals in recognition of their selfless service and dedication.
Bike rally, cleanliness drive and tree plantation programmes were also organised to promote National unity and community service.
