Meritorious students, achievers felicitated

The Social and Cultural Development Centre (SOCDEC) Wangjing organised a felicitation programme for meritorious students and individuals of Wangjing Wangkhei area and those staying at relief camps who have achieved significant feats in their respective fields.
The felicitation programme was held at Wangjing High School complex today graced by DM College of Science former Principal Elangbam Jadu as the chief guest; SOCDEC president Rojen Thongam as the functional president and Wangjing High School Head Master Thongram Gunindro as the guest of honour.
Senior Career Guidance Counsellor Sanjembam Silomi Devi; Chartered Accountant Chongtham Sanjoy from Wangjing and Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School Lecturer Moirangthem Muhindro also attended as the special guests of the programme.
Apart from felicitating the students, an awareness session on career guidance was also held for the students.
The individuals and students who were honoured today include Dr Lairellakpam Anju Chanu, who had been awarded a Doctorate degree in Physics and is currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Shree Shree Gouragobind Girls College Khurai; Dr Naorem Apanba Meitei, a' doctorate degree holder in Manipuri and an Assistant Professor of Mangol Nganbi College, Ningthoukhong; Mahima Ngangom and Lairellakpam Rimbasey who have qualified for NEET 2023 and Lairellakpam Pibarel who have qualified for JEE.
Furthermore, students who have passed the Class X and XII exams 2024 were also honoured by presenting gifts.
Speaking at the occasion, Sanjembam Silomi Devi gave valuable insights about the need of understanding the textual knowledge imparted to them.
It is essential to have a strong base so as to excel in future, she said.
She maintained that the parents have a vital role in shaping the future of their children thereby providing the needed support and guidance whenever necessary and helping them pursue a suitable career option.
Highlighting the need of providing counselling to students, she said those who have attained 12 years are eligible to consult a psychologist, she said that the parents can take them to the psychologists regarding their issues and concerns to have a better understanding about their goals and choices.
Regarding parental counselling which is also a crucial aspect, Silomi stressed that more focus should be given in this aspect as well to help the parents accordingly.
Talking about the various benefits provided by many organisations and companies in the form of scholarships, educational loans and so on, she appealed to all to avail the benefits of it in the larger interest of the students especially belonging to the needy and poor households.
Speaking at the occasion, the dignitaries underscored the importance of discipline, being consistent and effective time management by the students so that they become successful and responsible individuals in future.
In connection with the objective of organising the programme, SOCDEC member Ngangom Surjit said that career guidance and felicitation programme has been with an aim to inculcate the passion among the students to strive for their dreams so as to enhance human resource of the region.
KUDA
Meanwhile, Keirak United Development Association (KUDA) organised a felicitation programme for the meritorious students of Keirak area today at Keirak Keithel Lampak Community Hall.
In today's programme, students of Keirak area under Wabagai Assembly Constituency who have secured positions and passed the exams with star marks in the High School Leaving Certificate Examinations (HSLCE) 2024 conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Higher Secondary Examination (HSE) 2024 conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) and CBSE were feted and honoured with awards.
The programme was graced by Manipur Pollution Control Board Chairman and Wabagai AC MLA Dr Usham Deben; Keirak Wabagai Zilla Parishad Administrative Committee Member Salam Dhanabir Luwang; Keirak Gram Panchayat former Pradhan Elangbam Shanti Leima and KUDA president Leitanthem Chandrakumar Meitei as the presidium members.
In a bid to motivate the students to strive for further success, Dr Usham Deben awarded a cash prize of One lakh rupees each to Menaka Huidrom of Keirak Khongnang Leikai who secured 14th position in the Science stream of HSE Exam 2024 conducted by COHSEM and Elangbam Pamheiba Meitei of Wabagai Kadajit Maning Leikai who secured 18th position.
Meanwhile, the MLA awarded a cash prize of Rs 50, 000 to Khomdram Johnson of Keirak Awang Leikai who cleared the NEET by securing 610 marks.
In addition to the above, cash prizes sponsored by Dr Usham Deben, Salam Dhanabir Luwang and Elangbam Shanti were presented to students who passed the HSLC and HSE exams with high marks.
Lions Club of Ningthoukhong
A meritorious award distribution programme was held today at Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou Makha Mandop organised by Lions Club of Ningthoukhong, District 322 D .
The event was graced by Robertson Asem, Director, CAF & PD, Manipur; S Mangol Singh president Lions club of Ningthoukhong and Kh Robindro Singh SDC (Sub Register) Bishnupur, Govt of Manipur as the presidium members, said a press release by the Secretary, Lions Club of Ningthoukhong.
Cash awards and certificates were presented to 35 successful students of HSLC and HSE exams 2024 during the award distribution programme.
