Free diabetes detection camp held at Tentha

A one-day free diabetes detection camp was successfully conducted on Sunday at Tentha Heibung Mamang Leikai in Thoubal district with the objective of promoting early diagnosis, awareness and treatment of diabetes among the local populace.
The camp was jointly organised by TESRA Club, Tentha; the Lions Club Canchipur Palace; and the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, Manipur University; in collaboration with TOTO Diagnostic Centre, Singjamei.
During the camp, qualified medical staff and technicians carried out blood glucose tests, ECG and hypertension screenings, besides providing free basic health consultations.
Participants were also educated on the causes, symptoms, prevention and management of diabetes, with special emphasis on regular physical activity, balanced diet and lifestyle modification.
Among the dignitaries present were Prof Maibam Nodiyachand Singh of the Department of PESS, MU, and former HOD, Dept of Yoga, Manipur University, and the Research guide of the camp; Dr Khwairakpam Hemanta Singh, MO of Bashikhon, Naorem Surchandra Singh, president TESRA Club; Ningomba Thoiba Singh, president of Lions Club Canchipur Palace and UE Manipur University; Dr Kh Mukta Singh, faculty of Manipur International University; and Asem Toto Singh, proprietor TOTO Diagnostic Centre, among others.
Volunteers from the organising teams actively assisted in registration and awareness activities, ensuring the smooth conduct of the camp.
The organisers expressed gratitude to the medical team from TOTO Diagnostic Centre and the local community for their cooperation and support.
A total of 50 patients availed themselves of the services at the camp.
