Imphal, February 15 2025:
Sagolband AC MLA Rk Imo Singh laid the foundation stone for the construction of a G+1 structure Ima Keithel (Women Market) at Tera on Friday.
According to a release issued by the office of the MLA, the project is being funded under a scheme worth Rs 3 crore (approximate) from the NEC and will be executed by the PDA.
The project components consist of 52 vendor stalls, each measuring 4' x 4', and 11 shops of various sizes due to site conditions, ranging from 10.50 feet x 5.40 feet to 10.82 feet x 10 feet.
During the event, Rk Imo expressed gratitude to everyone involved and acknowledged the efforts of both the Central and State Governments for approving this much-needed project.
He also highlighted several completed projects awaiting inauguration, including the Community Hall at Meino Leirak, Thokchom Leikai, Babupara, and Sayang, as well as various clubs at Akham Lampak, Kwakeithel Soibam Leikai, Kurao Makhong, and Thingom Leikai.
He specifically mentioned the progress of Sagolband United, a football club that was in the Super Division before he became an MLA.
With collective efforts, the club has since advanced to the State League and even won the CC Meet a couple of years ago.
He highlighted that the players, who previously struggled with monthly rent while staying in a rented room, will soon have a permanent facility.
The new building, which will be inaugurated at the earliest, will provide a stable residence for the players and generate revenue through rented shops on the ground floor, ensuring lasting financial stability for both the players and the club management, extending well beyond his tenure as MLA.
Furthermore, he discussed the recent imposition of the President's Rule in a state of suspended animation, describing the situation as unfortunate and also noted that while new development works may be temporarily halted, they will resume once the Government is reinstated.
However, he assured that ongoing projects will continue to drive progress in Sagolband.
He also reaffirmed that "MLA Ana Layengi Tengbang" will proceed even during the President's Rule, as it is purely a personal initiative dedicated to the welfare of the people of Sagolband, aimed at supporting individuals during challenging times and adverse circumstances.
He urged people to bring any concerns to his attention so that he can continue helping with fairness and impartiality.
Concluding his speech, Rk Imo emphasized the importance of collective efforts to ensure that the Sagolband constituency lacks nothing and progresses in all aspects.
Moreover, in a bid to ensure the well-being of senior citizens, an enrolment drive for Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) was successfully conducted at the residence of Sagolband MLA on Saturday.
Members of Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee (SCPC) came forward to support the enrolment drive which was aimed at providing access to quality healthcare for elderly citizens aged 70 and above.
The event saw an overwhelming response from the local community, with over 120 beneficiaries enrolled.
With this enrolment drive, more senior citizens will now have access to essential medical treatments, hospital admissions, and life-saving procedures without the burden of financial constraints.
