Children's Day celebrated

Even as the State continues to reel under recent escalation of violence, Children's Day was celebrated with distribution of sweets, stationery items and clothing to underprivileged children.
On the occasion of Children's Day, United Youth of Heirok volunteers extended aid to Yaibilen Children Home today.
The UYH team donated clothing and sweets for the ten children staying at the Children Home.
Speaking in this connection, Ningthoujam Kameshwor Mangang, advisor UYH, commented on the way the officials are running the Children Home without any help from the Government.
Seeking aid for the Home from the relevant authorities, he assured that UYH will try to celebrate Children's Day at the Children Home in the coming years as well.
Meanwhile, vice-president of the Children Home extended their gratitude towards UYH for their generous act.
Later, the volunteers of UYH shared a meal with the children.
Additionally, as a part of Children's Day celebration, Jiribam PS OC Sagapam Ibotombi Singh distributed stationery items and sweets to children at various relief camps in Jiribam.
The Jiribam OC distributed books, pens, pencils and eatables to the children at Jiribam Higher Secondary School, Bidyanagar Multipurpose Indoor Hall and Harinagar Relief Camp.
Meanwhile in Chandel district, under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority and National Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority, Chandel organized a legal awareness programme on "Child Related Laws under the Indian Constitution" as a part of the observance of Children's Day today at Little Drops Life Children Home, Panchai village.
As per a press release, the programme was attended by Gaishin Palmei, Assistant Public Prosecutor, Chandel and Kh Jacky Lucy, Retainer Lawyer, District Legal Services Authority, Chandel as the resource persons and Masana E Panmei, MJS, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Chandel as chief guest of the programme.
The programme focused on sensitizing the children in the home of the various other child related laws under the Indian Constitution to bring awareness.
