DHS Thoubal concludes deafness screening campaign

Thoubal, February 13 2026:
A district-wide deafness screening camp and awareness programme conducted across various locations in Thoubal district concluded today at Ayushman Arogya Mandir, Yairipok Kekru.
The campaign was organised by the District Health Society (DHS), Thoubal, under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Deafness (NPPCD), National Health Mission.
The initiative commenced on February 9 and covered multiple health centres in the district.
During the campaign, a team of medical experts including District Nodal Officer of DPPCD, DHS Thoubal and ENT Specialist Dr Ningthoujam Pinky Chanu; along with ENT Specialist Dr Birjit Singh; Audiologist Uma Narengbam; and Hearing Instructor Aribam Devala Devi, conducted detailed screening, consultations and awareness sessions on hearing impairment and its prevention.
Community health officers, staff members and ASHA workers of Ayushman Arogya Mandir along with a team of the NCD Cell Thoubal, played a significant role in assisting the medical team and ensuring smooth conduct of the awareness sessions.
Prior to the concluding event at Yairipok Kekru, the deafness screening camp and awareness programme was successfully held at Ayushman Arogya Mandir Thokchom Bengi, Tentha and Uchiwa Turelwangma.
Altogether, 255 individuals benefited from the campaign, which aimed at early detection, timely intervention and spreading awareness about the prevention and control of deafness.
