Awareness programme on Women & Adolescent Girls' Health and Nutrition held at Kakching Khunou

As part of the ongoing 10-day special awareness campaign under SANKALP: Hub for Empowerment of Women, an awareness programme on the theme "Women & Adolescent Girls' Health and Nutrition Awareness" was held today at Kakching Khunou High School under the supervision of the District Administration Kakching.
The programme was graced by Kh Bhagyachandra Singh, Principal in-charge of Kakching Khunou High School and N Parango Singh, DPO/CDPO Kakching of the Social Welfare Department as dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, M Bimola, Supervisor of ICDS Cell Kakching and District Nutrition Expert, highlighted the importance of balanced nutrition for growth and overall well-being.
She emphasised that adolescent girls required iron and a nutritious diet to boost red blood cell production and support physical growth.
Delivering the keynote address, Ng Nandita, Supervisor of ICDS Cell Kakching, elaborated on the role of the One Stop Centre in providing medical aid, legal advice, psycho-social counselling, temporary shelter and police facilitation to women and girls under one roof.
She also detailed the services of the Women Helpline 181, a 24x7 toll-free number that provides emergency assistance and connects women in distress to appropriate support systems, including Shakti Sadan Home.
She further underlined the objectives of Mission Shakti, which aims to provide women with an integrated support system covering safety, health, education, livelihood, and social security.
The 10-day special awareness campaign, organised by the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Cell, Kakching, in collaboration with One Stop Centre and Shakti Sadan Home will conclude on September 12, 2025 .
