113th Birth Anniversary of Hemani Nilamani observed

The 113th birth anniversary of eminent freedom fighter and former Deputy Education of Manipur, Hemam Nilamani Singh was observed today at INA Martyrs Memorial Hall in Moirang.
The event organised by the Hemam Nilamani Foundation (a charitable trust) also witnessed the felicitation of meritorious students of Moirang AC who achieved outstanding marks in the Class X and XII examination.
The event was attended by Moirang AC MLA Thongam Shanti; former MLA of Moirang AC, P Sharatchandra as president and M Prithviraj, former MLA of Moirang AC as guest of honour.
During the event, students from the Government school of Moirang Multipurpose Hr Sec School, Longjam Christina Devi of Class X; Christina Khundrakpam of Class XII (Science) and Hemam Malemnganbi Devi of Class XII (Arts) and students from the private institutions of New Public School, Binita Yambem of Class X; St Xavier School Moirang, Cathrin Laisom of Class XII (Science) and Oinam Bembem Devi of Class XII (Arts) were honoured and feted with cash prizes, mementos and citation as encouragement for scoring high marks in the Class X and XII examinations conducted by the BOSEM and COHSEM .
The event also featured a vibrant cultural show highlighting Moirang's rich traditions and performing arts.
Speaking at the occasion, MLA Thongam Shanti spoke on the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by freedom fighters such as Hemam Nilamani and Maibam Koireng.
He urged the youth of Moirang to carry forward the ideals of unity, patriotism, and dedication to public service.
Former MLA P Sharatchandra Singh, attending as the functional president, highlighted the importance of preserving the legacy of the freedom fighters.
He emphasized that the responsibility to sustain and promote their legacy now rests with the younger 3rd and 4th generation and called for collective efforts to protect this heritage and ensure its transmission to the future generations.
Former MLA Prithiviraj, also stressed the need to safeguard the vision and values of freedom fighters.
He remarked that the legacy of Hemam Nilamani and Maibam Koreng is a beacon of inspiration and should be remembered and celebrated.
