Thoubal hosts "Marathon" as part of NMBA campaign

Thoubal, March 09 2025:
As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign across the nation, Thoubal district joined the nationwide programme by organising a Mega Marathon today.
The marathon held under the theme "Marathon Run Towards a Drug Free Future" was organised by District Administration Thoubal in association with District Social Welfare Office, Thoubal.
The marathon was participated by around 200 runners and was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, Ahanthem Subhash from DC Thoubal Gate and concluded at Khongjom War Memorial Complex.
The marathon which covered a total distance of 14 km was also participated by SP Thoubal, Shivanand Surve (IPS), SDO Lilong, Arvind Hanglem (IAS) .
The 1st position in women's category was bagged by Tayenjam Russia of Ngairangbam while Maria Thounaojam and Nevia Laishram of Haoreibi Mayai Leikai bagged the 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
In men's category, Khonthoujam Somorjit of Yairipok Yambem bagged the 1st position while Kh Zabeb Hussain of Lilong Ubak Khongjang Mkha and Mutum Mukta, Laiphrakpam Awang Leikai bagged the 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Ahanthem Subhash, DC of Thoubal stated that the marathon was held today as part of Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign and called for collective effort in making Thoubal district a drug free district.
The winners of the marathon were later felicitated by the Deputy Commissioner with cash prizes and certificates at a simple event held at Khongjom War Memorial Complex.
It may be mentioned that Nasha Mukt Abhiyan is an ambitious program launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt of India in the year 2020 to make India a drug free nation and to educate the general public, mostly youth and children about the harmful effects of substance abuse.
