District Energy Distribution Committee meeting held

KANGPOKPI, August 08, 2014: The District Energy Distribution Committee organized on spreading awareness among hill villages under Kangpokpi Sub Division on electricity consumption charges at the Multipurpose Complex, ADC Kangpokpi today.

S.Tulachandra, Deputy General Manager, Kangpokpi, Sub Divisional Officer of Saitu Gamphazol and Saikul, SDC of Kangpokpi also attended the meeting.

Apart from them, civil organizations like Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association (SAHILCA), Saikul Area Naga Peoples' Organization (SANPO), Kuki Women Union Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi Town Committee also attended the meeting.

While featuring the electricity dues of consumer villages in Kangpokpi Division and its three Sub-Division as on May 2014, S.Tulachandra pointed out the electricity dues of the three sub-divisions, Kangpokpi, Sekmai and Saikul Sub-Division which can be tallied to approximately Rupees twenty one crore twenty five lakh eighty eight thousand and seven hundred ninety nine.

Saikul Hill Town Committee representative, Thangkam Lupheng claimed that the negligence of the concerned department in issuing collection bills is one major cause for such enormous dues and further suggested timely issuance and collection of bill by the department as it happens in Imphal.

Similar views and suggestion were stressed by various village chiefs and chairmen while some suggested a completely new connection for all consumers.

Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills president Seikhomang Khongsai also warned the Government of public action in hand with UGs against Government departments in case officers posted in hill districts fail to attend their respective offices.

Thangboi also asserted the important on the part of every consumer to have legal connection as well as proper clearance of bills.

He further instructed all chiefs and chairmen as well as concerned authority to initiate possible methods in their respective areas to recover the dues.

He also warned of severe action from the concerned authority in case the dues are not recovered satisfactorily.

Mentioned may be made that, the Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) Managing Director, R.Sudan, IAS have earlier on July 19, 2014 requested the Deputy Commissioner, Senapati to promote awareness among the hill villages of Kangpokpi sub-division about the dues.
