Blood donation, health camps conducted

Imphal, February 08 2025:
In connection with the observance of World Cancer Day, the Department of Radiation Oncology, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, organised a Cancer Awareness Programme cum Health Camp at Moirang College today.
The health camp was conducted under the Swachhta Health Camp 2024-25 initiative by RIMS in collaboration with the Principal and faculty of Moirang College.
According to a release issued by RIMS, the programme aimed to raise awareness about cancer, its risk factors, and the importance of early detection and treatment.
Expert speakers, including Dr Y Sobita Devi, Head of Radiation Oncology Department, RIMS, Imphal; Dr L Pumima Devi, Associate Professor; Dr Ak Sunita Devi, Assistant Professor; and Dr A Ronibala Devi, Senior Resident, addressed common cancers such as lung cancer, breast cancer, and cervical cancer.
They also highlighted the harmful effects of tobacco and strategies to quit tobacco use.
Following the awareness session, a health camp was conducted for the inmates of the relief camp opened at Moirang College.
The health camp provided essential medical care, health screenings, and guidance on cancer prevention, importance of regular check-ups, and adopting a healthy lifestyle to approximately 100 patients.
The event concluded on a positive note, with participants expressing gratitude to the medical and support staff for their valuable assistance and guidance.
Moreover, RIMS, Imphal in collaboration with Gram Vikash, Manipur, also organised a health camp at Akampat Relief Camp, Ideal Girls College, Imphal East, offering healthcare services, medicine distribution, and hygiene awareness to displaced individuals.
AMUCO
As part of the 32nd Foundation Day celebration, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) organised a 2-Day Blood Donation Programme at RIMS, Imphal today.
The programme was organised in collaboration with Imphal West District United Clubs' Organisation (IMDUCO) and Imphal East District United Clubs' Organisation (IEDUCO).
It was attended by AMUCO president Pheiroijam Nando Luwang, general secretary Pratap Leishangthem, vice president K Helen, vice president MM Thambou, secretary (organisation) Laishram Krishnachandra, IEDUCO secretary general Momocha and other members of the organisations.
UPF
The United People's Front (UPF), Manipur in collaboration with Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Imphal East and Chanung Sintha Club organised a Free Health Camp at Chanung, Imphal East district today.
During the camp, a medical team provided free health examinations and consultation to about 70 individuals.
Those in need were also provided with free medications, ensuring access to essential treatments.
Speaking on the occasion, UPF president Nongthombam Rupachandra said that thousands of people have been displaced and many precious lives have been lost since the outbreak of ethnic clash in Manipur on May 3, 2023.Highlighting the crucial role played by village volunteers in defending the Meitei community from the aggression of Chin Kuki Narco Terrorist, Rupachandra urged the State Government to discuss rehabilitation measures to ensure a stable livelihood for village volunteers in the upcoming Assembly Session.
He also appealed to the Government to initiate support schemes to provide alternative employment opportunities for these youths who were compelled to take up arms to defend their homes and families.
Rupachandra also conveyed his gratitude to CMO Imphal East, other healthcare professionals and people of the area for their support in making the health camp a success.
Chanung Development Committee president Oinam Pakpa and Medical Officer Dr Maibam Johnson were also present at the event.
