IBSD Imphal conducts 'Fire Safety Training and Demonstration'

The BRICS-Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (BRICS-IBSD), Takyelpat, Imphal, successfully organised a comprehensive Fire Safety Training and Demonstration programme today in partnership with the Manipur Fire Service Department, Government of Manipur.
The training session, conducted as part of the Special Campaign 5.0 initiative for institutionalizing Swachhata as a citizen-centric approach, focused on enhancing awareness about fire prevention and emergency response protocols among the institute's community.
As per a release issued by IBSD, a specialized team from the Manipur Fire Service Department, led by Sub-Officer W Rona Singh, conducted an extensive lecture-cum-demonstration session covering critical aspects of fire safety management.
The training encompassed detailed instructions on operating various types of firefighting equipment, advanced techniques for extinguishing LPG fires, handling highly inflammable substances, and tackling ordinary fires effectively.
A key highlight of the event was the live demonstration of a Crash Fire Tender, showcasing its deployment capabilities in institutional environments.
The hands-on session provided participants with practical insights into emergency response procedures and the proper utilization of modem firefighting apparatus.
The training witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, officers, project scientists, staff members, research scholars and students of IBSD.
The event was coordinated by Dr Nandeibam Samarjit Singh,.
Fire Safety Officer of IBSD, Imphal, under the supervision of Dr H Nanaocha Sharma, Director (Additional Charge).
The initiative underscored the institute's commitment to ensuring a safe working environment, particularly crucial for research institutions where handling of chemicals and sensitive equipment requires heightened vigilance.
