10th State Level Yoga Olympiad begins

The 10th State Level Yoga Olympiad 2025 organised by the Directorate of Education (Schools), Government ofManipur began today at Johnstone Higher School School, Imphal.
The inaugural function was graced by dignitaries, including Elangbam Sonia, Joint Secretary, Education (S); Dangmei Manglem, Additional Director (Schools/Hills), Education (S); Bisheshwar Khumukcham, Additional Director (Schools/Valley), Education (S); and Soraisham David Singh, Senior Administrative Officer, Education (S).
Speaking on the occasion, Elangbam Sonia said that Yoga is an ancient practice that combines physical postures, breathing techniques and meditation to promote physical, mental & spiritual well-being.
She asserted that Yoga can be done anywhere and does not require expensive equipment, specific attire, or a formal studio environment.
Dr LW Ananta, Physical Education Promotion Officer (PEPO), Education (s) and in-charge of Yoga Olympiad 2025 stated that the event was organised With the aim to promote physical and mental well-being among students through Yoga.
Highlighting that the Yoga Olympiad is held every year in connection with the National Yoda Day, he said, "Altogether, 306 participants from across the State are taking part in the 10th State Level Yoga Olympiad".
Dr LW Anata also mentioned that the winners of the contest will represent Manipur at the National Yoga Olympiad, scheduled to take place in New Delhi.
