Annual assembly, general body meeting held

The annual general body meeting of Tombisana High School Managing Committee was held today at Sangeet Kala Sangam Hall in Khurai Lamlong Bazar.
During the meeting, new office bearers of Tombisana High School Managing Committee for the tenure 2024-29 were elected.
Dr T M Rajen Ayangba was elected as the new president along with Hanjabam Suraj Sharma and Shamurailatpam Ibochou Sharma as vice president & secretary respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr T M Rajen Ayangba appealed to the Government to revive the historic Tombisana High School in the interest of preserving the State's educational heritage.
Expressing concern over the attempts to construct a market at the school's location, he said that the school has been in Imphal City for many years and has produced many prominent individuals who have brought laurels to the State in different fields.
He pointed out that the committee still holds the Patta (land ownership document) for the school and continues to pay taxes on the property annually.
He also stressed on the historical significance of the school and called for its preservation as an important part of Manipur's educational & cultural legacy.
Moreover, Kom Union Manipur (KUM) convened its 1st Annual Assembly at KR Lane, New Checkon on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons, KUM president Serto Ahao Kom said that the Kom Union Manipur was established in 2022 to work for the welfare and protect the identity of the Kom community.
He shared that the annual assembly deliberated on a number of issues and took some key resolutions.
He asserted that the annual assembly unanimously approved the KUM constitution and resolved to remain neutral in the ongoing conflict.
Furthermore, Serto Ahao called for collective effort of all the CSOs and the Government to restore peace & normalcy in Manipur at the earliest.
