Imphal, July 06 2024:
The aggrieved Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) taking refuge at relief camps at Akampat, Wangjing Kodompokpi Sports complex and Lamding Higher Secondary School, Wangjing have urged the Government to address their grievances at the earliest.
Highlighting the immense difficulties faced by the IDPs who have been compelled to take shelter at various relief camps, the IDPs urged the Government to provide the monetary aid from the interim relief fund for the first phase as declared.
It is worth noting that the displaced victims have been adversely affected by the turmoil and violence since May last year.
They have been rendered homeless due to violence and arson which followed after the outbreak of ethnic violence on May 3, 2023 .
Expressing that the Government has failed to actualise a number of relief measures as announced, the displaced victims appealed to the Government to expedite measures for rehabilitation and resettlement at their respective native lands for their well-being by providing adequate security measures.
They further urged the Government to initiate immediate steps for restoration of peace and normalcy.
