Bishnupur/Kangpokpi, December 04 2025:
The district of Bishnupur and Kangpokpi marked the first anniversary of Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat with renewed commitment as New Life Foundation and Integrated Rural Management Association (IRMA), a leading child-protection organisation in the region, pledged full support to the Government of India's 100 Days Intensive Awareness Campaign aimed at eliminating child marriage.
According to New Life Foundation and IRMA, the national campaign, launched in New Delhi by Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi, outlines a targeted strategy to dismantle the ecosystem that allows child marriage to persist.
The initiative comes as India intensified its resolve to end child marriage by 2030, a goal reaffirmed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who recently emphasised the nation's strong policy framework and grassroots mobilisation.
Dr L Pishak Singh, Secretary of New Life Foundation and T Lamjaneng Haokip of Integrated Rural Management Association lauded the district administrations for its proactive stance.
"The administration has been consistently fighting the issue of child marriage.
Working closely with them, we have come this far.
As the entire nation stands united, there is no reason we cannot end this crime even before 2030," they said, calling the campaign a historic momentum toward a child-marriage-free India.
New Life Foundation and Integrated Rural Management Association, a partner of Just Rights for Children - an India-wide network of over 250 NGOs - has played a major role in preventing more than one lakh child marriages nationally in the past year.
The organisations reiterated their commitment to intensify district-level interventions through schools, religious institutions, service providers and local bodies.
The 100-day plan is structured in three phases, focusing first on awareness generation through schools, colleges and educational institutes.
The second phase will prioritise engagement with religious institutions and marriage-related service providers such as temples, mosques, churches, gurdwaras and banquet halls.
The third phase will involve gram panchayats and municipal wards to strengthen community ownership and sustained intervention.
The campaign is scheduled to conclude on International Women's Day, March 8, 2026 .
