Tree saplings planted as Kamjong, Tamenglong celebrates 75th Van Mahotsav

Kamjong/Tamenglong, July 04 2024: As part of the week-long 75th Van Mahotsav Celebration 2024, Kasom Khullen Forest Range in association with K Somrei Village Authority conducted a plantation drive of fruit bearing tree saplings at K Somrei Village under the supervision of Kamjong Forest Division DFO Napolian Rongmei today.

Roughly 700 tree saplings were planted during the drive.

Led by Meihoubam Biren, Range Officer (RO), Kasom Khullen Range, the plantation drive was carried out at the public ground of K Somrei village.

S Ojit, Beat Officer, K Somrei Beat Office, Village Chief Alungpam, Village secretary Kahaongam, youth secretary Sonaling and folks from K Somrei village participated in the drive.

Separately, the Tamenglong Forest Division in collaboration with the District Administration, Tamenglong today launched "Ek Ped Maa ke Naam: Plant4Mother" during the week long Van Mahotsav Celebration 2024 at Tamenglong District Head Quarter.

The launching program was led by Chunglenmang MCS, ADM Tamenglong; Kh Hitler Singh MFS, DFO Tamenglong; Namthango Kamei SDC, HQ; Joel Gangmei, RFO, Tamenglong along with CRPF personnel and staff of District Administration and Tamenglong Forest Division.

Speaking at the inaugural function Kh Hitler Singh reiterated that plantation of trees is the most effective tool to combat extreme climate change and prevent natural disasters like floods and droughts in the watershed area of rivers, streams and water sources in the district.
