Kangpokpi, September 03 2022:
The Eastern Liangmai Chief & Chairman Association (ELCCA), Manipur has re-affirmed its stand that the Liangmai community in Kangpokpi and Noney Districts would not join in the ensuing delimitation process of Constituencies of the Autonomous District Councils, Manipur.
A release issued by ELCCA Manipur informed that the Liangmai body has been urging the State Government not to include Liangmai villages in the formation of Kangpokpi and Noney Districts which is against the wishes of the Liangmai community.
The Liangmai body also claimed that the Liangmai community in Kangpokpi and Noney Districts were forced to live as a minority in its own ancestral land due to vested interest of some politicians.
"We were pushed to the corner and forced to live as economically marginalized sections and deprived of our democratic political right", it alleged.
The Liangmai body reiterated its long standing demand to the Government to place the Liangmai community residing in Kangpokpi and Noney districts under one administrative umbrella in order to ensure equality and justice in the democratic process.
ELCCA Manipur further appealed to Chief Minister N Biren Singh to address their grievances and consider the legitimate demand at the earliest.
"Failing which the Liangmai body will intensify its democratic agitation in the State", it concluded.
