Eco-Network Heirok calls for cleanliness, sustainable development

Eco-Network Heirok, an environmental organization based in Heirok has sought support and cooperation from all to make Heirok, a role model village for cleanliness, sustainable development and healthy living.
In a press release, Eco-Network Heirok president highlighted that the organization has been making sincere efforts to promote cleanliness and development in the region in collaboration with the local clubs, Meira Paibis and local elected bodies such as municipal councils and gram panchayats etc.
Emphasizing on its 'Heirok-Wangjing River Rejuvenation Campaign' which has been taken up to keep Heirok Wangjing river clean, Eco-Network Heirok has been working earnestly towards the cause along with the support from local clubs such as HDC, YDO, DLC, EBC and meira paibis.
As a part of the campaign, the organization started the initiative of collecting household wastes such as used plastics so as to recycle it and put it to effective use thereby preventing it from being dumped into rivers.
In continuation of the above initiative, Eco-Network Heirok handed over collected used plastic bottles to Ashok Traders located at Tentha Marongban for recycling purposes.
In view of the above, it stressed on the multiple benefits of recycling such as generation of employment and deriving monetary gains out of it.
Highlighting the importance of throwing garbage at appropriate places to prevent environment pollution, the environmental body appealed to the authorities concerned to organise awareness programmes in different localities across the State to sensitize the masses to use environmental friendly products instead of plastics and alike and to inculcate the habit of throwing waste at appropriate places.
