VACC Tousem urges CM to rectify Tamenglong-Jiribam boundary

Tamenglong, April 03 2026: The Village Authority Chairmen Council (VACC), Tousem sub-division, has called upon the Chief Minister of Manipur, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, to urgently intervene and rectify the long-standing boundary and jurisdictional issues between Tamenglong and Jiribam districts, warning that failure to act could lead to serious unrest in the region.

In a press release issued on Friday, the VACC highlighted that the Leingangpokpi Police Outpost, though physically located within Tatbung village, under Tousem subdivision of Tamenglong district, is currently being administered under Jiribam.

The council maintained that such an arrangement violates the territorial integrity of Tamenglong district and stressed that its land must not be brought under Jiribam for the sake of "administrative convenience" .

It asserted that correcting the district boundary would help establish clarity in governance and foster long-term peace and stability in the region.

Calling for decisive leadership, the council urged the Chief Minister to uphold truth regarding, ancestral and administrative boundaries to prevent further friction.

It further warned that unresolved issues related to boundary demarcation and jurisdictional control could escalate into larger problems if not addressed.

The VACC also raised concern over alleged administrative interference by Jiribam authorities within Tousem sub-division and cautioned that inaction may lead to "unavoidable chaos," for which the government would bear responsibility.

Among its key demands, the council sought immediate official recognition that Tatbung village and its surrounding areas belong to Tamenglong district.

It also called for administrative realignment, placing the Leingangpokpi Police Outpost under Tamenglong district authorities.

Additionally, the VACC demanded an end to what it described as encroachment qn Tamenglong's land by the Jiribam administration, stressing that timely action is necessary to ensure justice and communal harmony.
