Imphal, March 01 2025:
Former chairman of banned United National Liberation Front (UNLF) RK Meghen (Sanayaima) has urged for documenting the true facts of the conflict caused by the armed Kukis from Myanmar, who came to destroy Manipur, in the form of literature to inform the future generations.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the third foundation day celebration of Apunba Khorirolgi Malemgi Lup, at Iboyaima Shumang Lila Shan-glen, Palace Compound on Saturday.
Meghen said that Manipur is currently in a precarious situation.
It is not known when a tranquil, peaceful life will be restored although the developing situation looks favourable.
However, the attempt by armed Kukis from Myanmar to destroy Manipur, which led to chaos in the state, should never be taken lightly, for they are very scheming and will continue their agenda.
As such, there is a need to understand the root cause of the conflict and all the other facts.
In this regard, writers play an important role in recording them in the pages of history for the knowledge of the future generations, he asserted.
Presided over by Apunba Khorirolgi Malemgi Lup president Waikhom Amuchou Meitei, the programme was also attended by critic Prof Dr Saratchandra Longjamba, Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Kolkata's Board of Governor member Buddha Chingtham, Manipur State Shumang Leela Council lifetime president Ph Gunachandra Sharma, former chief engineer (Power) Kh Khamba Singh, social activist RK Nongdrenkhomba and Thongju Part-2 former prad-han Nameirakpam Chingkhei as guests of honour.
