Writers' team visits Loktak, relief camp

Bishnupur, November 28 2025:
Nine writers from South Africa, Thailand, Assam, Tripura and Kolkata are attending the Imphal Literature Festival 2025 organised by Sahitya Thoupang Lup (SATHOULUP), Imphal in association with Phunga Heritage, Shillong.
On the second day of the festival today, the writers visited Keibul Lamjao National Park, Loktak Pat, Thanga-Karang.
and the IDPs at SC Hostel Thanga Wangma High School Relief Camp.
They also offered words of encouragement to the displaced folks.
Additionally, a sum of Rs 11,000 was handed over to the relief camp inmates.
According to writer Langoljam Biramangol, four of them came from Tripura to attend the festival.
He expressed joy upon finding the opportunity to interact with writers from Assam, Kolkata, Angola (South Africa), Thailand and Manipur.
These interactions will help promote language, literature and cultural exchange and SATHOULUP deserves praise for organising the festival, he added.
Standing in solidarity with the suffering IDPs, Birmangol made an appeal for the resettlement of the displaced folks back to their homes.
SATHOULUP advisor and Sahitya Akademi Awardee Saratchand Thiyam said that one of the goals of the festival is to foster interaction between the IDPs and delegates from outside the State so that stories of their suffering will reach a global audience.
Another objective is to ensure interaction between Manipuri writers and authors from beyond the State and introduce/promote Manipuri literature.
Many eminent writers of the State were also part of the day's activities.
