Imphal, April 28 2026:
The indefinite bandh called by the Foothills Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC) is currently in full effect in areas under its jurisdiction.
The indefinite bandh recommenced from the midnight of April 23 owing to the State Government's failure to implement the provisions of their agreement.
Speaking to media persons today at the Thangjing Hall of Manipur Press Club, FNCC convenor Ng Akhiu said the Committee had met with representatives of the State Government twice wherein the parties held dialogues and signed agreements.
However, the indefinite blockade resumed a few days back as the concerned authority failed to act on the terms of the agreement.
According to Ng Akhiu, FNCC had strongly opposed the unlawfid construction of German Road/Tiger Road in areas under the Committee's jurisdiction; demanded dismantling of designated camps belonging to Kuki SoO groups within or near Naga-inhabited areas and urged the authorities to put a complete stop to poppy cultivation along with destruction of all existing plantations.
Additionally, FNCC had urged the Government to stop the movement of Kuki militants armed with sophisticated weapons in broad daylight which creates fear and intimidation among the people.
Lastly, it had called for updation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) with 1951 as the base year.
