Imphal, August 27 2025:
Even as many have come out against the controversial report of the People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) on the Manipur crisis, the Manipur People's Party (MPP) has filed a police complaint against the Delhi based union.
In the complaint filed with the Superintendent of Police, Imphal West, the MPP said that the PUCL report is very unfair and one-sided.
The PUCL report is misleading the people.
It is hindering peace efforts and may incite communal tension by falsely presenting Meiteis as the wrongdoers, MPP said.
The report blames the Meitei majority and Government for almost everything bad that has happened and ignores many serious crimes committed by the Kuki-Zo groups.
The report does not mention the narco-terrorism activities by some Kuki-Zo factions that have caused law and order problems in the State.
The report also hides the fact that many forest offices were burned down and Government properties were destroyed by Kuki-Zo militants, said the party.
The publication of biased and fake information is dangerous and should not be allowed, as it has the potential to disturb peace and incite violence, said the MPP, asking the police to register an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act.
A thorough investigation should be conducted and the PUCL-IPT report must be removed or blocked from all online platforms until its truthfulness is properly verified, said the MPP .
Meanwhile, the Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India has also come out strongly against the PUCL-IPT report, condemning it .
