Imphal, January 27 2026:
The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) has threatened to take pre-emptive action and impose total shutdown on both NH-37 and AH-2 with effect from January 27 midnight till the midnight of January 28 if the Government fails to apprehend the perpetrators involved in the alleged razing of the so-called K Songlung (II) village on January 26 within 24 hours.
A press release issued by CoTU on January 26 said that the Kuki-Zo community, specially in the Sadar Hills region has been facing insecurity and threats from the S Kamson faction of ZUF .
The alleged razing of the K Songlung (II) village by the ZUF not only raises the question of security preparedness of the concerned authorities but demeans the Constitutional authority of the Governor to exercise his power to contain such elements from unsettling peace in the region.
Saying that it is time for the Government to take effective and immediate action against the ZUF faction, CoTU asserted that continued inaction of the Government would tantamount to colluding with such 'gangsters' .
