Imphal, November 25 2010: After the Bangladesh Communist Party (BCP) substantiated the news about the reported arrest and subsequent extradition of United National Liberation Front's (UNLF) chairman, RK Sanayaima aka RK Meghen from Dhaka on September 29 last, protests from different quarters of Manipur have been mounting pressure on the State and Union Governments, seeking the revelation of the status of the rebel leader.

Fresh to join the protest bandwagon are students from 15 different schools of the State comprising both Government and private.

staged a sit-in-protest in front of their school premises today demanding for the revelation of the whereabouts of RK Meghen.

Reminiscently, on September 29 last, a joint team of Indian intelligence sleuth, RAW, and Bangladeshi police reportedly arrested the rebel leader from the heart of Dhaka and subsequently allegedly extradited into India.

Since then, despite the mounting pressure from the people of Manipur to reveal the truth about the reported arrest which was first informed by BBC news, the Government of India stuck its gun in maintaining secrecy and keeping the entire episode in wraps.

So much so that, Union Home Secretary, GK Pillai on his recent visit to the State in October spelt out explicitly that the Union Government was uninformed and unaware of the developing episode.

In a strikingly bold letters, the placards proclaimed and demanded: "Disclose the whereabouts RK Meghen", "Manipur-India political conflict should be resolved democratically" etc.

Despite the Union Government remaining stoically silent on the issue and State Government unwilling to nose around, the people of Manipur have been up in arms against the indifference of the powers that be.

Under the banner of civil organizations, the people have come out in protest, either by staging dharna or writing protest missive to relevant authorities.

But the acknowledgement and verification of Bangladesh Communist Party on November 22, about the veracity of the closely guarded political secret of "involuntary disappearance" of RK Meghen covertly from the soil of Bangladesh to India has given the protesting people a new lease of life in the State.

Earlier, AB Bardhan, national secretary of the Communist Party of India, had confirmed having received verified information about RK Meghen from his Bangladeshi counterpart saying "Meghen has indeed been arrested and handed over to the Indian authority", revealed CPI Manipur State council.
