Faculty Induction Programme kicks off

A week-long Faculty Induction Programme for newly recruited faculties and scientists of all the constituent colleges of Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal kicked off today at the Conference Hall of College of Agriculture (CoA), Iroisemba, CAU, Imphal.
The inaugural programme was graced by Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice Chancellor, CAU, Imphal; Prof Indira Sarangthem, Director of Instruction; Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education; Dr Jilak Raj Sharma, Registrar; Dr P Ramesh, Principal Scientist, NAARM, Hyderabad as presidium members, said a release.
Delivering the welcome address, Prof Indira Sarangthem highlighted the importance of organising the Induction Programme which is designed to offer support, guidance and orientation for the newly recruited faculty members.
Dr Tilak Raj Sharma presented a brief idea to the participants on the roles and responsibilities as a faculty member of CAU, Imphal.
He encouraged the participants to equip themselves with various skills that will help them develop a holistic learning environment.
Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma highlighted the various achievements of CAU, Imphal and advised the participants to remain up to date on the recent development in teaching methodologies so as to improve their professional capability and teaching performance.
Dr Anupam Mishra appealed to all the new faculty members to focus on personal development of students, inter institutional collaboration and appropriate utilization of facilities available in the University.
In view of the academic development of students, he emphasized the need for structured research works by the students and the faculties/scientists on the identified thrust areas of each subject group.
He mentioned that the teachers should encourage entrepreneurship amongst students and stressed the importance of skill development of students in the practical portion of their academic courses.
The One week Faculty Induction Programme is being organized by Directorate of Instruction, CAU, Imphal with an aim to acquaint the newly recruited faculties with the functioning of the University and their duties as a member of the CAU family.
Altogether, 39 faculties from different constituent colleges of CAU, Imphal are participating in the programme.
Experts from renowned National Institutions like NAARM Hyderabad, IIT Guwahati, IIM Shillong, NIT Warangal, IIMC Kolkata, Manipur University and CAU, Imphal will share their expertise on different areas of teaching and management during the week-long programme.
