Nongpok Sekmai CSOs demand explanation

Thoubal, September 23 2024: People of Nongpok Sekmai have demanded an explanation from the relevant authority concerning the alleged pending deployment of CRPF at Nongpok Sekmai Police Station.

According to a press release issued by Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (AMPAL), Nongpok Sekmai, this was reported recently by the media and the Chief Minister also made a Facebook post in this regard.

Nongpok Sekmai CSOs including AMPAL, Nongpok Sekmai and NESA, Nongpok Sekmai have questioned where in Nongpok Sekmai the CRPF barracks will be set up.

Posing this question to Nongpok Sekmai PS OC, it was informed that there is no ongoing construction of CRPF barracks and no information about stationing of CPRF personnel here.

Additionally, people of the area have also not come across any construction for the purpose, added the press release.

Moreover, in the Chief Minister's Facebook post, the photo of alleged CRPF barracks construction at Nongpok Sekmai PS has been geo tagged as being at "Khangabok" .

This has caused a lot of confusion among the people of Nongpok Sekmai and surrounding areas.

Further, the AMPAL press release maintained that a BSF battalion is already stationed at Nongpok Sekmai in connection with the restive situation in the State.

The alleged pending deployment of another CRPF team is not reasonable, it said.

Further, AMPAL demanded that if any additional security personnel were to be deployed in the region, then it should only be State forces.

Thus, the AMPAL press release has called for a clarification from the relevant authority to dispel the public's confusion.
