Committee appeals for appointment of regular CMO at Jiribam Hospital

Jiribam, August 23 2024:
District Hospital Monitoring Committee, Jiribam has appealed the State Government to appoint a regular Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and post the necessary doctors and staff at Jiribam District Hospital.
Addressing a press conference today at FOCS office at Thongju Boroi Makhong, Nongmaithem Sadananda Meitei, Committee convenor, shared that on August 16, the CMO of Jiribam District Hospital and three other doctors were transferred without sending any immediate replacement.
A Medical Officer (MO) was assigned as the in-charge CMO.
In the midst of the tense situation in Jiribam, the Committee convened a meeting on August 18 to address the transfer issue.
On August 19, a 7-member team reached Imphal to place their grievances before the State, he added.
The team also met the leaders of UCM and FOCS and with their help met with the concerned Minister and officials.
After receiving assurance from the Government, the Committee has withdrawn their upcoming agitation, the convenor shared.
The Minister also assured that officials will visit and carry out an inspection of the hospital.
Additionally, the Medical Director is also planning to pay a visit, he added.
Further, he thanked the Government for issuing an order posting two doctors at Jiribam District Hospital yesterday.
He expressed hope that a regular CMO will also be appointed at the earliest.
