Imphal, June 23 2024: The "4th UNACCO School Meritorious Awards" distribution programme was held today at the Multipurpose Hall of UNACCO School, Meitram.

The programme was graced by Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency MLA and Chairperson, Manipur State Women's Development Corporation Limited, Soraisham Kebi Devi; The Sanaleibak, chief editor, Hemantakumar Ningombam and UNACCO School, chairman, Ningombam Irabanta Singh as presidium members.

The event began with an opening song by the students followed by the felicitation of the dignitaries.

The welcome & keynote address was delivered by Apurba Sundar Das, principal, UNACCO School, Meitram.

Speaking on the occasion, Soraisham Kebi said that education does not only come from textbooks and the ability to speak English has nothing to do with intelligence.

"In today's competitive world, the importance of English cannot be ignored.

But nowadays many people measure intelligence according to having a good English knowledge.

English is only a language, not a measure of intelligence or knowledge", she added.

The MLA also elaborated on the need to provide holistic education which will promote critical thinking and encourage personal & collective responsibility.

Ningombam Irabanta said that UNACCO School has been organising the meritorious awards distribution programme every year to motivate and encourage students of Meitram and nearby areas.

He appealed to all concerned not to visit the school with arms/ guns and create apprehension & panic among the young students who are future pillars of the Nation.

The Chairman also called for dialogue and peaceful negotiations to solve any issues or grievances instead of resorting to violence and intimidation.

Altogether, 106 meritorious students from Meitram and surrounding areas who secured more than 70 percent in this year's Class X & XII examinations were felicitated during the event.

The programme culminated with a vote of thanks proposed by Kanghujam Sunder, headmaster, UNACCO School, Meitram.

Meanwhile, Brothers of Syed Society (BoSS) also organised a Career Counselling cum Felification Programme for meritorious students at Y Academy Hall in Hatta Minuthong today.

It was attended by advocate Rabi Khan; Manipur State Minority Commission, former chairman, Dr Syed Burhanuddin; SP (Crime & Departmental Cases), Syed Abdul Samad; Azizur and Syed Riyajuddin as presidium members.

During the programme, cash awards and appreciation certificates were presented to meritorious students who secured good marks in this year's Class X & XII examinations.

Moreover, Council For Youth Welfare, Sagolband Sayang Road also organised the "8th Meritorious Students Felicitation cum Prize Distribution Programme'' at Primary School Ground, Sagolband Sayang Konthoujam Leikai today.

During the programme, meritorious students who secured good marks in this year's Class X & XII examinations were presented cash awards and certificates.

Council For Youth Welfare also felicitated its general secretary and Principal of Ibotombi Institute of Education (IIE) Dr RK Bijen who was honoured with the prestigious "Innovative Principle Of The Year Award" at the Indian Icon Awards 2024 hosted by Kiteskraft Production.
