Khambana Kao Phaba statue unveiled

A sculpture depicting a famous episode from Moirang Kangleirol, "Khambana Kao Phaba" (the capture of a feral bull by Khamba), was unveiled today at Ibudhou Thangjing Laikol, Moirang.
The statue was sponsored/donated by Salam Ibochouba Singh, Ingu Khadrakpa of Ibudhou Thangjing Phamnaiba Loishang; Khadrakpi Salam (O) Binamchaobi Devi and the family of Konjengbam Biren Singh.
The sculpture, which is slightly bigger than life-size, was unveiled by Moirang AC MLA Th Shanti and Ingu Khadrakpa Salam Ibochouba Singh and presented before the public.
The event was graced by MLA Th Shanti as the chief guest; Ingu Khadrakpa Salam Ibochouba Singh as the functional president and Ph Khaba Singh, Ingoo Asuppa Phamnaiba Cheirap Loishang and president Moirang Thangjing Yageirel Marup Nodiya Ngangoicha among others as guests of honour.
At the event, MLA Th Shanti addressed the gathering and highlighted "Moirang Kangleirol" as the origin of Manipuri art and culture and Moirang as the birthplace of Moirang Kangleirol.
With the inauguration of the Khambana Kao Phaba statue at the sacred grounds of Ibudhou Thangjing Laikol, he expressed hope that the educated youths of Moirang will be encouraged to explore and research more about Moirang and Moirang Kangleirol.
He said that the inauguration of the sculpture will bring more attention to the epic of Khamba-Thoibi and Moirang Kangleirol in general.
The MLA also thanked Konjengbam Sanahongba's team who brought such an important chapter of the Moirang Kangleirol to life.
Simple gifts were presented to the team from the donor family.
The event was attended by officials of Phamnaiba Cheirap Loishang, Phamnaibi Cheirap Loishang, members of Thangjing Seva Mandal and shamans belonging to Amaiba and Amaibi Loishang and pena artists from the Pena Loishang.
