ANUL celebrates 22nd foundation day

The Apunba Nupi Lup (ANUL), Bishnupur district, celebrated its 22nd foundation day today at Kiyamba Ningsing Shanglen, Bishnupur, with various programmes, including paying tribute to former members who made significant contributions to the organisation.
The programme was attended by ANUL president Lourembam Pramo; AMKIL president Lourembam Nganbi; Nupi Samaj vice-president Th Bijenti; Tammi Chingmi president Y Momon; NLANL president Y Mema; Thoubal Ima president Kh Mema; NIMPAL president Th Ibeyaima; EECHAL president T Ibemcha; and Ima Leimarel Apunba Lup, Churachandpur president A Nayani Leima, who graced the occasion as presidium members.
As part of the observance, floral tributes were offered to the portraits of late Laishram Ongbi Ibemhal, Oinam Sumati Leima and Heisnam Subita, who had served ANUL for a long time.
A minute's silence was also observed in honour of the departed souls.
The organisation further presented simple gifts to the children and grandchildren of the late members as a mark of respect and remembrance.
Addressing the gathering, ANUL president Lourembam Pramo expressed concern over the ongoing crisis in Manipur, stating that the situation has caused immense suffering among the people.
She called for sincere efforts to bring an end to the violence and restore peace in the State.
She also raised concerns over the arrest of village volunteers, stating that they have been protecting the villages and safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur, while the Kuki narco terrorists, who are alleged perpetrators in causing violence against civilians have not been brought to justice.
Pramo further stated that law and justice should be applied equally across all regions of the State and urged the authorities to ensure fairness in maintaining peace and security.
She added that if the leaders in power are unable to find a solution to the ongoing crisis, they should take responsibility and step down from their positions.
