Blood donation, health camps conducted

The Lions Club of Imphal Golden Pride and Iboyaima Hospital & Research Centre, Singjamei jointly organiseda"Lions Club International District322D MegaHealth Check-up Camp" at Waikhom, Wakambam Maning Community Hall,Heingang Mayai Leikai on Saturday.
The camp was conducted in collaboration with the Flood Relief Camp Joint Coordination Committee, Heingang Mayai Leikai, to address the health concerns of the people who were affected by the recent floods.
A medical team including specialist doctors from various departments such as Skin, Medicine, Gynaecology and General Surgery provided free consultations and medicines to the patients during the camp.
Relief materials such as rice, dal, edible oil, drinking water, sanitary pads, face masks, etc were also distributed.
Lions Club of Imphal Golden Pride general secretary Leimapokpam Ranjita Devi, Mutum Monica Chanu and other members of the club took active part in the health camp.
Similarly, Manipur Chemists and Druggists' Association (MCDA) and Bashikhong Panthoibi Youth Club also jointly organised a 1-Day Free Health Camp at Bashikhong Panthoibi Community Hall.
A medical team provided free health examination and consultation to about 300 individuals during the camp.
Moreover, SUN Club, Mongshangei and M/S Chingkalen Optical jointly organised a 1-Day Free Eye Check-up Camp at the premises of the club in Mongshangei Boroi Makhong on Sunday.
During the camp, a medical team examined the patients for various eye related problems and spectacles were also provided to the patients at subsidized rates.
SUN Club general secretary Thoudam Ruhinkumar said that eyes are one of the most important organs of the human body and it is important that proper care is taken.
He also expressed concern over the increasing cases of eye related problems among the people especially youths due to excessive screen time and lifestyle changes.
"Early treatment is critically important to prevent some common eye diseases from causing permanent vision loss or blindness", he added.
Besides, the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Thoubal District Branch and Council for Advancement of Rural Development, (CARD) Thoubal, jointly organised a Mega Blood Donation Camp at Blood Centre JNIMS, Porompat on Saturday.
The camp was organised in connection with the 4th death anniversary of (Late) Waikhom Ibohal Singh, 1st National Youth Awardee of North Eastern State and former vice chairman of IRCS Thoubal District Branch.
The camp was attended by IRCS Thoubal District Branch chairman K Sadananda Singh, vice chairman S Mangoljao Singh, secretary Th Rojen Singh, and treasurer M Manglem Singh among others.
Altogether, 17 individuals donated their blood
during the camp.
