Nutritional food baskets distributed to five TB patients

Thoubal, September 19 2024: Nutritional food baskets were distributed by Nikshay Mitra to five tuberculosis patients under Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan at the Conference Hall of Thoubal Deputy Commissioner Office today.

The food basket distribution programme was organised by National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) DTC, District Health Society Thoubal and food items including eggs, horlicks, milk, apples were handed over etc.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Thoubal Ahanthem Subhash said that though TB was a dreaded disease in the past, it is easily treatable now.

Timely medical intervention and maintaining one's health is necessary to combat this disease.

In order to keep the TB patients healthy, the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan was launched to distribute nutritional food items to TB patients, he maintained.

The TB patients adopted under this scheme (after receiving their consent) are given nutritional food baskets every month until they are cured of the disease, added the Thoubal DC.

Out of the five TB patients, the Thoubal DC adopted two patients while CMO Thoubal Dr Y Nokul, District TB Officer Dr Y Shameen and District Coordinator Thoubal Thoungam Stephee adopted one TB patient each.

He further appealed the representatives of PRIs and Municipal Councils to adopt TB patients and help eliminate this lung disease from the State.
