Imphal, March 19 2023:
In a bid to help house the less fortunate, Wangoi Assembly Constituency MLA handed over a sum of Rs 1.5 lakh each to seven households from the MLA Local Area Development Fund yesterday.
Speaking in this connection, the MLA stated that the MLA LADF can be used to help build houses for the homeless and those without proper shelter as this fund should be utilized to bring about development of the people.
Stating that the monetary aid was extended before the advent of the rainy season so the houses could be built before the rains arrive, he added that more such financial aid will be provided to those without proper houses in the AC in a phase-wise manner.
The MLA also shared that blacktopping of roads in Wangoi AC are currently in progress.
In some areas, blacktopping work has almost completed and filling of potholes at Govindagram is nearing completion, he said.
Potholes have appeared in many roads that were constructed without quality maintenance and without being included in the previous work programme of the AC.
These potholes are currently being filled with the financial help of the MLA LADF as there is no State funding for this purpose, he said.
The MLA also mentioned the water crisis that has gripped the State.
He added that water pumps are currently being used to provide water to the residents of Paobitek, which is suffering from severe water shortage.
