8th Pay demand

Demanding implementation of the 8th Pay Commission's recommendation, a large number of employees took out a silent rally.
The rally organised by the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO started from Hao Ground, Singjamei Chingamathak reaching Moirangkhom, the rally crossed Thumbuthong and ended at BOAT where the employees held a meeting.
The protesters carried placards which read "Regularise genuine contract employees", "No more contract appointment", "Stop recruitment by the department concerned" etc .
Speaking to media persons, JAC president RK Bashumani said that the 8th Pay Commission's recommendations must be implemented at the earliest and all employees should be given 60 per cent DA/DR .
He also demanded extension of the age of superannuation from 60 to 62 .
Urging the Government to initiate due process in order to fill up the sanctioned posts of 50,000 which are currently lying vacant, Bashumani asked from which head of account salaries are given to those employees who were appointed on contract on the pretext that the Government has been facing financial difficulties.
He said that all those employees who were appointed by following due procedures should be regularised and recruitment of employees on contract basis should be put to an end.
The JAC president further asserted that all recruitments to Government posts should be done either through MPSC or the Manipur State Staff Selection Commission.
He also demanded removal of sub-rule II of Rule 10 so that work charge employees of PWD, IFCD, PHED, MI and Electricity can be given due amounts for unutilised earned leave after retirement.
