Imphal, August 18 2025: A minor girl who went to a cobbler to repair her school bag was allegedly sexually assaulted at Uripok area yesterday.

The accused has been identified as Girish Kumar Das of Begusarai Phulwaria, Bihar.

He was staying at a rented house at Uripok.

Special Judge POCSO Imphal West has remanded the nonlocal cobbler to 4 days police custody till August 21 .

He allegedly sexually assaulted the minor victim yesterday evening.

Following a complaint lodged by the mother of the minor victim, he was arrested yesterday night.

The complaint filed with the police said that the minor girl went to the rented room of the accused yesterday evening to get her school bag repaired.

Some time later, the minor girl came back running crying and frightened.

When enquired, the minor narrated that she was sexually assaulted by the accused cobbler.

In the Court, the Special Public Prosecutor submitted that during the preliminary interrogation, the accused has admitted to committing the charges levelled against him.

Further interrogation of the accused is highly required, said the prosecutor, praying for police custody of the accused.

The Court, after hearing the submissions of Special PP, remanded the accused to 4 days police custody till August 21 .
