Senapati, June 18 2024:
The Senapati District Truck Owners' Association (SDTOA) has taken serious note of the Kuki miscreants often targeting drivers and transporters at Kangpokpi.
In a statement, SDTOA said that LPG tanker drivers have been supplying cooking gas for the people of Senapati despite the immense hardships and inconveniences they have been going through.
Saying that these drivers are now reluctant to bring cooking gas cylinders to Senapati because of the Kuki miscreants who harass them, the SDTOA added that there will be a shortage of cooking gas in Senapati if the drivers stop transporting refilled LPG cylinders to the district.
The SDTOA urged the law enforcing agencies and the Kuki group CoTU to take up necessary actions to ensure there is no disruption in the movement of transporters in Kangpokpi.
They also demanded that legal action be taken up against the Kuki miscreants who harass transporters/drivers in Kangpokpi area.
It is reported that some miscreants detained a LPG tanker driver at Hengbung on June 12 while he was returning to the LPG Bottling Plant at Sekmai from Senapati after delivering refilled LPG cylinders.
Saying that the driver and other occupants of the truck were then taken to Taphou Kuki village by the miscreants for ransom money, the report added that the abductees were threatened to keep their mouths shut.
It is further said that there were similar cases of harassing transporters/drivers
in Kangpokpi areas.
