Makaam Foundation appeals for free & fair election

The Makaam Foundation has appealed to thepeopleofManipur and North East in general to exercise their franchise inafree& fair manner during the upcoming Parliamentary Election, 2024 .
A release issued by Mathiupuang Gonmei, chairman of Makaam Foundation, said that it is the constitutional and fundamental duty of the Election Commission of India (ECI) and State agencies to ensure that people can exercise their franchise without any fear from threat and physical intimidation.
"North East in general and Manipur in particular are well known for various kinds of threats and muscle power being exhibited in the run up to every election.
Therefore, the ECI must take special measures to ensure that every voter can vote freely", it added.
The Foundation also appealed to the public to not accept any illegal activities & expose the candidate or political parties indulging in anti-democratic activities.
"If any candidate or political parties are indulging in malpractices such as rigging, tempering EVMs, impersonation, etc, it is a clear proof that they did not have the mandate of the people", it asserted.
The Makaam Foundation further appealed to the citizens of Manipur and North East in general to choose and elect their representatives wisely and prudently so they will not get the brunt of electing irresponsible representatives who might ruin the state and the region.
